April 3

12:00 Noon Dream Flag Celebration! The program will begin with an introduction, then Jeff will teach everyone the Dream Flag Song, a musical version of Langston Hughes' "The Dream Keeper." Following this, we will begin the student readings with musical accompaniment from Andrea Clearfied and her trio. Student readers will line up according to numbers on their buttons. We will have two mikes. Each reader will come to a mike, hold it in one hand with the poem in the other hand, and read the poem into the mike. (This should be practiced!) After all of the readers (approximately 50-60), we will have the connection of the flags. Flag holders and teachers will get up from their seats and go to their stations around the Kimmel Center for the tying of the flags. On cue, each school will tie their flags to the next school's flags and announce their school's name. When all are complete, we will again sing the Dream Flag song. There will be a short closing, and then we will conclude, allowing the audience the chance to walk around the Kimmel Center to read some of the over 1,800 dream poems on fabric.

Note on Seating: The seating in the Commonwealth Plaza is limited and most of it will be reserved for program participants and their teachers. There is, however, ample room for a standing audience.
