Description From the School:
Loomis is my school
and I'm proud of it! Wouldn't you be
proud of a school that everyone is equal
and fair to each other? --Louie C.
Loomis is a
wonderful learning experience. The kind
teachers use humor to promote the
information. Knowing much about the
learning subject, our teachers will not
always ask you to break out the books.
They will do other things like using
plays, brainstorming and even pictures
and stories to secretly enforce
learning. --Dianna D.
My school Loomis
is a great place to learn. If there is a
problem our principal will take care of
it. There are lots of rules to keep
everybody safe. This is why Loomis is a
great place to learn.
--Angelina D.
Our school
Loomis is a great school. The teachers
are great too! We go on field trips to
cool places. We learn a lot of stuff
here at Loomis. --Matt W.

Description From the School:
The Lovett School is an independent,
college preparatory day school serving
grades K-12. We began participation in
the Dream Flags Project in 2005,
inspired by the Tibetan Prayer flags we
saw in photographer Anne Keiser's
presentation on Sir Edmund Hillary and
the Sherpa people of the Himalayas. In
2005, Andrea Morgan's 5th grade class
jumped in to the new project with
amazing results -- the children's poems
were deep, incisive and hopeful, and
adorned our hallways for several weeks.
This year, 2nd grade teacher Brooke
Hight is joining the project with
Andrea, and the classes will work
together. We look forward to another set
of beautiful, inspiring flags!

New in 2006! Notes From the School:
from section 7H:
Hey friends,
We are writing this letter
from Dallas, Texas. Our names are Alex,
Annie, and Lizzy. We are in the seventh
grade at The Hockaday School, in Dallas,
Texas. So far in English class we have
read the novel Shane by Jack
Schaefer, and our currently reading
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.
In the seventh grade we take English,
math, history, science, and foreign
language. We enjoy listening to music
and hanging out with our friends. Even
though our school is an all girls’
school, we have many guy friends at our
brother school, St. Marks School of
Texas. We also like going to the movies
and have recently seen Tristan and
Isolde with James Franco. Another
movie that we saw recently was Glory
Road. Hockaday is very big on
academics, and we always have a lot of
homework. We hope that you had a great
Chinese New Year and hope to hear from
you soon!
Sincerely,
Alex, Annie, and Lizzy

From the 6C Class:
Dear Schools,
Hello, we are in the sixth
grade and go to The Hockaday School in
Dallas, Texas. It is an all girls’
school founded in the year 1913. Our
English class is called the 6-C class
because here at Hockaday, we have a
schedule where our class periods are
labeled using letter like A, B, C etc.
We are sixth grade, C period. In our
English class we have recently finished
the novel Johnny Tremain. It is
the story of a boy growing up in Boston,
Massachusetts, during the start of the
American Revolution, which relates to
our history class because we were
studying the Revolution. We will begin
reading Tom Sawyer very soon.
The first book that we read in English
was The Witch of Blackbird Pond.
Personally, I liked The Witch of
Blackbird Pond a bit better, but
Johnny Tremain was great. However,
most of our grade likes one or the
other.
We are currently working on a family
stories project where we write six
different essays about our family
history under one main topic or theme.
We are also working on poetry. We have
written many poems and will be
submitting them to the Poetry Society of
Texas, a poetry competition in Texas,
when we finish. In the Middle School
part of are school (It goes from
pre-kindergarten to twelfth grade) there
is a book published each year called
Banner. We can submit short stories,
poetry etc. to it. We work on things to
submit to Banner sometimes in
English class. If you win Banner,
you can get prizes and other things. We
love English class!
Sincerely,
The 6-C class

Tibet
In a chapel service celebrating
hopes and dreams, students from St.

the Tibetan prayer flag tradition
for inspiration.
And now, 285 12-inch square flags
hang from the ceiling in the dining

Notes From the School:
On January 12th,
2006, the entire West Chester Friends
School met in the gymnasium to create
Dream Flags on paper. These were shared
in Meeting For Worship, then transferred
to a tunnel between two retirement homes
that are also on the campus. The Daily
Local, a West Chester daily newspaper,
came to interview some to the students
and organizers and take photographs.
They ran a feature article on the
project. Our Dream Flags on paper will
be transferred to cloth to make Dream
Flag lines for presentation at the Dream
Flag Celebration in the Kimmel Center on
April 22.
